The average consumer has no idea that something as simple as coconut oil can have so much use in and around the house. It has long been known that oil is great for frying food and adding “zing” to a homestyle dish, but consumers would be surprised that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Just like any type of cooking oil, coconut oil is able to fry foods- but it does so on a different level than other oils. While other oils may just taste greasy, coconut oil adds a soft hint of coconut to the fried foods. This style of cooking can be found all over the world, but much more so in Asian countries that rely on the oil for cultural dishes that have become popular over the decades.

Almost any type of oil can be safely used as a lubricant, but coconut oil in particular is so robust that it has even been used as an automotive lubricant. Coconut oil is able to properly douse engine parts in a lining that extends the life of the engine multifold, thanks to less “wear and tear.” Coconut oil is this respect isn’t so commonly used, but as word gets out, it is more common to see coconut oil gracing our vehicles.

Many types of skin softeners and moisturizers feature coconut oil because of the appeasing smell it exhibits, as well as the fact that virgin coconut oil is able to moisturize the skin quite efficiently. Before applying coconut oil to the skin, check to see if one is allergic to the substance by testing a small patch of skin first. If a rash doesn’t develop, this usually means it can be used safely.

For those who are in constant fear of obtaining some type of infection or illness, coconut oil may help in reaffirming that one can lead a safe and fulfilling existence. Coconut oil has been proven to be effective against certain strains of microbes- meaning consuming the oil can help strengthen one’s own resistance to sickness. Although the consumption should be moderated, however, as coconut oil has a high amount of unsaturated fat.

Finding coconut oil is easy- just make a trip to the local store and browse different aisles of goods. Coconut oil can be found in its purest form in the produce section, or in a refined form in the cosmetics or cooking oil sections. Any which way, coconut oil is in a lot more aisles than a consumer would think.

In Conclusion

From here on out, coconut oil should be experimented with. At the very least, try to use it as a frying agent so as to give food a unique taste that is unlike the normal fried foods most experience. Consider picking up a cookbook for food ideas in the process.
